I changed my way of thinking a few months ago when my son was attacked in his own apartment. I received the dreaded phone call at 4am, “My name is Officer ———, your son has been assaulted and is hurt.” Even though was not there, I could feel his pain and hear it in his voice. Only a mother could know how terrible that there was nothing I could do for him; I could only pray because I live in Kentucky and my son lives in Florida.

My son was sitting on the couch in the living room of his apartment when the attacker busted through the door and hit my son over the head with a baseball bat, knocking him unconscious. He awoke to the pain of his attacker kicking him in the head and ribs. If a neighbor had not came to his aid when he did, my son could have been killed. It took a couple of months for my son’s injuries to heal, but the distress in his heart will be there for a very long time.

A short time before the assault I was in the process of building a web site and was looking for items that I would like to sale. After the assault, there was no question about what I wanted to sale. I began selling self-defense products on my web site and the first I did, was give my daughter sons a good supply of stun guns, pepper sprays, and pepper spray. 

Why buy a stun gun or pepper spray? Do you have a daughter in college or one that works late at night and walks to a dark parking lot alone? In today’s world you need to be prepared to defend yourself before that “one time attack” happens to you or your loved ones. So very often people say, “If only I would have…”

Self-defense products may not save your life, but they may give you a “small window of opportunity” to escape. Do not be the person that thought it could never happen to me or my loved ones. The way I see it now is, “It’s just a matter of when”.
